{"id":4621,"date":"2020-12-20T07:47:08","date_gmt":"2020-12-20T07:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arquidiocesisdelahabana.org\/address-december-20-fourth-sunday-of-advent\/"},"modified":"2024-03-16T04:05:27","modified_gmt":"2024-03-16T04:05:27","slug":"address-december-20-fourth-sunday-of-advent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arquidiocesisdelahabana.org\/en\/address-december-20-fourth-sunday-of-advent\/","title":{"rendered":"Allocution, December 20, Fourth Sunday of Advent."},"content":{"rendered":"<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-4621-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/arquidiocesisdelahabana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Domingo-20_12.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/arquidiocesisdelahabana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Domingo-20_12.mp3\">https:\/\/arquidiocesisdelahabana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Domingo-20_12.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dear sons and daughters of the Virgin of Charity, on this Fourth of Advent Sunday we hear the gospel according to Saint Luke, chapter 1, verses 26 to 38.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>At God&#8217;s request, the Virgin said: <em>Behold, I am the slave of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your Word.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Virgin said yes to virgin motherhood, yes to being the mother of the Son of God made man, the Messiah, the King, the Lamb, the Way, the Truth, the Life.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin silently said yes to Joseph&#8217;s suffering and to Joseph&#8217;s yes.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin said yes to the journey to Bethlehem and to the birth of her son in the cave.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin said yes to shepherds and Three Wise Men.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin said yes to the marriage of Cana.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin said yes to the sword of pain that pierced her heart when they called her Son crazy and despised her son, when they crucified him.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin said yes to being Mother, of the crucified and of the crucifiers.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin said yes to being the mother of the apostles and the Church.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin said yes to all the impossible, trusting in her Father God.<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin says yes to all the pleas of her children and presents them to the Father God and between the two of them they give us the best.<\/p>\n<p>The Mother of Yes wants her children to say yes.<\/p>\n<p>Yes to the life of the mother&#8217;s womb and to the last minutes of life.<\/p>\n<p>Yes to the catechism, to the ten commandments, to the gospel of Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Yes to natural, faithful and fruitful marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Yes to personal, family and Sunday prayer in the temple.<\/p>\n<p>Yes to mercy, forgiveness, dialogue, reconciliation.<\/p>\n<p>And we remember that if a Virgin is a Mother, if a barren old woman felt her child jump in her mother&#8217;s womb upon the arrival of the Mother of the Lord, for God there is nothing impossible and for you, whatever your situation, if you embrace God and the Virgin, nothing is impossible.<\/p>\n<p>Let us continually repeat in the face of all events: <em>Behold the slave of the Lord, may your Word be fulfilled in me.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(Song)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>God save you, Mary.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mother of yes, to outlaw no and always welcome the love that blooms.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary silence, silence in seeds so that the word of life may germinate in our land.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary the beautiful, beautiful with light to illuminate the cloudy faces in the sun of the Son.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary of every day, to recount a thousand moments of the day in rosary beads.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary tenderness, for our kisses, flights of birds towards deserted fronts.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mar\u00eda smiles, to live in flowers, flowers that walkers collect as they pass.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary of tears, flow of tears that waters exhausted hearts.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary the exalted one, the well-placed one, pray for me so badly placed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary I remember, faithful memory, remember me when, my feet covered in dust, I enter life.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>God save you, Mary, Mary mother, Mary whom I love. Amen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(Song)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Finish what you are doing and do not start another task, was the instruction of Sister Teresa, a nun of the Love of God, to indicate the end of classes to her students. The students listened to Sister Teresa asking them to take a piece of paper and write down everything they could not do. Some filled out their sheets on the front and back where it was written: I CAN&#8217;T. When they got to the teacher&#8217;s desk they placed their I CAN&#8217;T statements in an empty shoe box.<\/p>\n<p>Once all the students&#8217; sheets had been collected, Sister Teresa added hers. He covered the box, put it under his arm, walked towards the door and went out into the hallway. The students followed the teacher.<\/p>\n<p>When they reached the middle of the corridor, the procession stopped. Sister Teresa entered the relief room, walked around a few times and came out with a shovel. With the shovel in one hand and the shoebox in the other, Sister Teresa led the students to the farthest corner of the park and there they began to dig.<\/p>\n<p>They were going to bury their I CAN&#8217;T. The excavation took more than half an hour because most of the students wanted to cooperate in the excavation. When they reached a meter depth, they stopped digging. They placed the I CAN&#8217;T box at the bottom of the excavation and quickly covered it with earth.<\/p>\n<p>Around the newly dug grave, there were around thirty students. Each one had at least one page full of I CAN&#8217;T in the shoe box, and they placed it at the bottom of the grave, the teacher too.<\/p>\n<p>At that moment, Sister Teresa announced: <em>Guys, please put your hands together and lower your heads.<\/em> The students obeyed. They immediately formed a circle around the grave and, holding hands, lowered their heads and waited. Sister Teresa said her prayer:<\/p>\n<p><em>Children, we are gathered here to honor the memory of I CANNOT. While he was with us on earth, he affected everyone&#8217;s lives, some more than others. Unfortunately his name has been pronounced in many houses, in many public buildings, in many congresses, in many churches.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We have just given NO PUEDO a final home and a tombstone contains his epitaph. He is survived by his brothers: I CAN and I WANT. They are not as well known as their famous relative and undoubtedly are not yet as strong and powerful.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Maybe one day, with your help, I CAN and I WANT to have a greater impact on our families, in our homes, in our towns. Let us pray that I CAN&#8217;T rest in peace and that, in his absence, everyone present can take charge of their lives and move forward saying and doing I CAN and I WANT. Amen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(Song)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary, you were from all eternity in the mind of the Father; You were there when the Father organized all things, when he installed the mountains, when he made the seas, when he thought of men. You were in the wisdom of the Father, in the power of the Father. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary, from all eternity, the Father saw you as immaculate, as full of grace, so that you could be the Mother of the Savior.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary, the Father prepared you and also me.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>From all eternity the Father thought of me, of my simple, poor, small existence; in my call to live holiness here and now.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mary, help me feel the joy of my mission.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Help me to feel that the Father takes me totally to live in an attitude of presentation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And you, who because you were the Immaculate and full of grace were able to say yes, help me today to say yes. Amen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(Song)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sweet Mother, don&#8217;t go away, don&#8217;t take your eyes off me.<br \/>\nCome with me everywhere and never leave me alone.<br \/>\nSince you protect me so much as a true Mother,<br \/>\nMay the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit bless me.
