Homily for December 25, 2020
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today in all the churches of the world the biblical text of the Gospel according to Saint Luke, chapter 2, verses 1 to 20, is read.<\/p>\n

\u2026<\/p>\n

In all the nativity scenes that we have seen in churches and homes there is the figure of Saint Joseph, charged by God the Father to take care of the Virgin and the baby Jesus. Jos\u00e9 is a strong, hard-working, available man, capable of turning a cave into a home, a water carrier, a food seeker, and all his sacrifice in favor of his family makes him very happy despite innumerable difficulties and makes the people very happy. Virgin and child.<\/p>\n

We thank God for so many fighting, animated fathers, who do not tire of solving and searching here and there and even if they fail, they continue in the fight. Later, at night, he tells his wife everything he did, that she already knows, he caresses her, says nice words to her, and she is happy. What joy in the midst of poverty! What joy in the midst of difficulties! How happy are the children who see that their father loves them!<\/p>\n

Every father and mother wonders when their son and daughter are born: What is going to happen to this boy or girl?<\/p>\n

The child of God, of Joseph and Mary, is the one awaited for centuries by the people of God, the Son of God made man, the path by which no one has ever been lost, the truth that does not disappoint, the completely happy life, the Lamb of God who removes hatred, violence, injustice, disagreements, divisions, intolerance.<\/p>\n

Your boy and your girl, dear moms and dads, will be what you sow. If you sow love, honesty, family harmony, sacrifice for the sick and the elderly, help to neighbors, faith in God and in the Virgin of Charity, you will reap fruits of happiness, great tranquility, great peace and joy and a healthy pride in seeing children who do not cause headaches.<\/p>\n

Teaching by example, words and correction will make you, dear fathers and mothers, very happy like Joseph and Mary when teaching Jesus and learning from Him.<\/p>\n

In the cradle of the baby Jesus we place the conflictive children so that He shows them the way. In the hands of the Virgin we place our children so that She may protect them from all evil and show them the way to be truly happy.<\/p>\n

In the births we see the Three Wise Men who gave gold to Jesus Christ, King of love, incense, aromatic resin that exhales odor through heat and is dedicated to God, myrrh, perfume given to the man-God who will die on the cross and be anointed with this perfume.<\/p>\n

The Three Wise Men remind us of the grandparents who always have the wealth of kisses and hugs and also the wealth of the pesos that they give to their grandchildren with overflowing joy, especially when the parents do not have the money to please their children. Grandparents also have the lived wealth of honesty, fulfillment of duty, responsibility, and selfless service. This is wealth.<\/p>\n

The shepherds, present in the Bethlehem cave, remind us of neighbors, some very good and others regular, but present at the birth of a child and in difficult times. In the cave of Bethlehem the shepherds became family to Joseph, Mary and Jesus and brought what they could to share. Our neighbors are also part of our family at certain times. What a beautiful town that is capable of living friendship, brotherhood!<\/p>\n

We also see in the nativity scenes a star that guided the Magi to Bethlehem, to the cave of the child God. There has been much speculation about this Star.<\/p>\n

Astronomer John Kepler says that the luminosity seen by the Magi was due to a rare alignment of Jupiter, Saturn and Venus, which produced the effect of a single, very bright star. This phenomenon will occur again these days and will be visible in the northern hemisphere.<\/p>\n

Let us look at the sky these days and this brilliance that guided the Magi towards God, guide us towards the Child God with whom we have everything and without Him nothing.<\/p>\n

The popular wisdom of India tells us this story:<\/p>\n

The teacher asked his disciples if they knew when the night ended and the day began.<\/p>\n

One of them answered:<\/p>\n

-When you see an animal from a distance and can tell if it is a cow or a horse.<\/p>\n

-No, the teacher responded.<\/p>\n

Another stated:<\/p>\n

-When you see a tree in the distance and you can tell if it is an orange tree or an apple tree.<\/p>\n

-Neither, said the teacher.<\/p>\n

-Alright. Tell us when the day starts?<\/p>\n

-When you look a man in the face and recognize a brother in him; when you look at a woman’s face and recognize your sister in her. If you are not capable of that, then whatever time it is, it will be night for you.<\/p>\n

Let us follow the light of Christ so as not to live and walk in darkness and always go in search of this light that makes us see the wonders of God and of united families.<\/p>\n

At births we see angels who announce and sing: Glory to God in heaven and on earth, peace. Glory to God in heaven and in Cuba, peace. Glory to God in heaven and in my house, peace.<\/em><\/p>\n
