Congratulations to all the mothers. We pray, we give thanks and we children want to make them happy. It is our greatest gift.

Voice: Prayer for my mother
Father God Well, how wonderful the creation you made of my mother!
I thank you for her, for her delivery, dedication, sacrifice and availability.
I ask your forgiveness, my Father, for the times when I have made her suffer, causing her countless headaches.
Help me not to make her suffer anymore.

Lord Jesus Christ, who spent nine months in the womb of the Virgin Mary,
that you felt the joy of being breastfed, carried, caressed by your Mother,
that you learned from his lips to say Papa Dios,
teach me to fulfill the fourth commandment of the law of God
and the remaining commandments that my mother made known to me
with his life, with his word, with the catechism to which he sent me.
God the Holy Spirit, giver of life, inspirer of love,
distribute your gifts of Wisdom and Counsel to all mothers
so that they can educate and guide, together with their husbands, their children
and build a beautiful family, united by love here on this earth
and then stay together in heaven.
Saint Mary of Charity, who knows of pain and suffering for your children,
pray for so many mothers who cry and stand next to them,
on the cross of illness, prison, injustice, distance, alcoholism
and other sorrows of this valley of tears.
Comfort and strengthen mothers and children
so that they may overcome the adversities of this life in peace
and head together towards the homeland of heaven,
where you wait for us with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

(SINGING)

The Virgin is mother of Christ, Son of God made man. It is told to us in the gospel according to Saint Luke, chapter 1, verses 26 to 38.

(GOSPEL)

The Virgin carried Jesus in her virginal womb. Mothers know very well what pregnancy is: joy, hope, dreams, trust in God, in the family, in those who care for us. The Virgin gave birth to her Son in the cave of Bethlehem. Mothers know well what it is like to give birth and the joy after giving birth.

The Virgin carried, caressed, breastfed, bathed, washed diapers, watched her child grow, taught him and learned from him. Mothers know well what the Virgin experienced.

The Virgin walked beside her Son in happy moments, in difficult moments, in moments of suffering and crucifixion.

Many mothers have done the same and there are no limits to the sacrificial dedication in favor of their children, which does not weigh because everything is done out of love.

In the most painful moment of the Virgin’s Life, her Son made her the Mother of all humanity.

(GOSPEL John 19, 25-27)

Holy Mary, Mother of Christ and our Mother, now that you are in heaven, we pray to you, your children:
Sweet Mother, don’t go away, don’t take your eyes off me.
Come with me everywhere and never leave me alone.
And since you protect me so much as a true Mother,
May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit bless me. Amen.

(SINGING)

Voice: A mother is a gift from God, the most beautiful in the world. In the contest where we are judges, there is no princess who can beat her because she is the prettiest and the best.
A mother is the first smile, the first caress, the safe shelter, the punctual meal, the first prayer: she is the caress of God.

A mother is the first lesson, the sweetest kiss, the first gesture of love, the warmest hug, the richest custard, the cleanest shoes, the most perfumed clothes; but a mother is also the strongest slap, a severe punishment, a bitter medicine, an injection that hurts because of that happy disobedience that made us sick with tonsillitis.

We can always find a mother there, when we want her to be there and when we don’t want her to be there; A mother always gets involved in everything and always has the solution to our problems, because she knows everything.

Moms are: fairy godmothers; You accuse us, especially with dad when we have misbehaved, but they are also our pimps when they have to defend us from dad’s belt. Moms are fortune tellers: they always know where we are and what we are doing, even if we don’t tell them; They are storytellers (the best in the world), if they wrote a book with the stories they invent, there would be thousands of versions of the same story, the one we liked the most, but that their invention and that every time we ask them for it another version emerges. A mother can be a rabbit or a wolf, or a spider, but she is also our first friend, what we would like to be, the perfect soldier, who is so afraid of hurting us that she always lets us beat her.

A mother is that woman with a perennial smile, who keeps all things in her heart and then meditates on them; the one who doesn’t go to bed until we arrive, the one who asks a lot or doesn’t ask anything; the one we always miss and the one we always go to.

A mother is the usual teacher, the timely advice, the one that announces to us the evil that we can suffer, before it happens and when it happens we remember her words that we did not want to hear; but a mother would also like to be the shield that protects us from the misfortunes of life; the miracle worker, who could turn our lives into eternal happiness. A mother is the constant prayer of petition, expressed in every moment of life for her children and of gratitude for them to God.
A mom… is my mom.

(SINGING)

Mothers-in-law are mothers and daughters-in-law are daughters, Pope Francis tells us.

VOICE: Today the mother-in-law is a mythical character, I’m not saying that we think of the mother-in-law as the devil but she is always thought of as a bad figure. But the mother-in-law is your husband’s mother, she is your wife’s mother. Let’s think today about this somewhat widespread feeling that the farther away the better the mother-in-law. No! She is a mother, she is old. One of the most beautiful things about grandmothers is seeing their grandchildren; when their children have children, they come back to life. Take a good look at the relationship that you have with your mothers-in-law: sometimes they are a little special, but they have given you the motherhood of your spouse, they have given you everything. At least you have to make them happy, so that they can carry out their old age with happiness. And if they have any defects, they must be helped to correct themselves. I also say to you mothers-in-law: be attentive to the tongue, because the tongue is one of the worst sins of mothers-in-law, be attentive. And Ruth in this book accepts the mother-in-law and brings her back to life and the old Naomi takes the initiative to reopen the future for Ruth, instead of just enjoying her support. If young people open themselves to gratitude for what they have received and the elderly take the initiative to relaunch their future, nothing will be able to stop the flowering of God’s blessings among people! Please let the young people talk to their grandparents, let the young people talk to the old, let the old people talk to the young. We must reestablish this bridge strong, there is a current of salvation there, of happiness. May the Lord help us, by doing this, to grow in harmony in families, that constructive harmony that goes from the elderly to the youngest, that beautiful bridge that we must guard and take care of.

(SINGING)

VOICE: One day my mother asked me what was the most important part of the body. Over the years I would find the right answer. When I was young I thought that sound was very important to us. And that’s why I said: “my ears, mother.” She said, “No, a lot of people are deaf and they get by just fine. But keep thinking, I’ll ask you again.” Several years have passed since that first time. I had thought I found the correct answer. Then I told her: “Mother, sight is very important for everyone. “Then they must be our eyes.” She looked at me and said: “You are learning quickly, but the answer is not correct, because there are many blind people who get ahead even without their eyes.” I continued to think what the solution was. My mother asked me several more times over the years. And my answer was: NO. “But you’re getting smarter and smarter over the years. You will soon be right.” Last year, my grandfather died. We were all hurt. We cried, even my father cried. I remember this most of all, because it was the second time I saw him cry. My mother was looking at me when it was time to say goodbye to grandpa. Then he asked me: “You still don’t know what the most important part of the body is, daughter.” It scared me when he asked me, right then and there. I had always believed that this was a game between her and me. But she saw the confusion on my face and said, “This question is very important to every answer you gave me in the past. I told you you were wrong and I told you why. But today is the day you need to know.” She looked at me like only a mother can. I saw her eyes full of tears, and I hugged her. It was then that, leaning on me, she told me: “Daughter, the most important part of your body is your shoulder.” “Why is he holding my head?” I asked him. “No, daughter. It’s because you can hold the head of a loved one or friend when they cry. Someday we will need to cry on someone’s shoulder, I just hope that you always have a shoulder to cry on when you need it… like I need yours now.” Thank you, mom, for your shoulder!

On a day like today we also cry, but prayer turns tears into hope.

Good Father God, You are the only one who knows all the good that my late mother did for me and the family. I don’t know all that maternal good.
Reward her as only You can: with eternal life.
Forgive the sins he may have committed.

Teach me to keep alive the inheritance of harmony and family unity that he bequeathed to all of us children and this inheritance grows and passes from generation to generation.
Saint Mary of Charity, you who are our mother, accompany us, now that we are missing the mother who gave birth to us, and what she did with us, do it now in our life and wait for us together with our mother in the house of the darling. Amen

(PRAYER OF THE OUR FATHER)

And the blessing of Almighty God, who created mothers and children…
And the blessing of Jesus Christ that accompanies all mothers and all children in pain…
And the blessing of the Holy Spirit that can achieve the dreams of every mother with her children…
And the company of the Virgin always unites us all in love on this earth, and later in the Glory of heaven… Amen.

Today, Sunday, May 8, we celebrate Mother’s Day.
