Eloy Ricardo Domínguez Martínez, Auxiliary Bishop of Havana

Motto: “COURAGE!, it is I, do not fear”

Eloy Ricardo was born on January 4, 1977, in the Cuban city of Havana. Son of Eloy Ricardo Domínguez and Zoila Martínez.

He graduated in Civil Law from the University of Havana.

In 2003, he entered the Major Theological Seminary of San Carlos and San Ambrosio in Havana and studied Philosophy and Theology. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University.

On May 31, 2011, he received the diaconate, incardinating himself in the Archdiocese of San Cristóbal de la Habana, where he was ordained a priest by Jaime Ortega Alamino on August 27 of the same year in the Cathedral of Havana.

During his priestly life, he has held the following positions in the Havana Archdiocese:

  • Parish priest of the Parish Church of San Isidro Labrador, in Managua, with the chapel of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Las Guásimas, in the municipality of Arroyo Naranjo;
  • Parish Priest of the Parish Church of Our Lady of Mercy, in Bauta, Artemisa;
  • Parish Priest of the Parish Church of Our Lady of Charity, in Caimito, with the chapels in Playa Baracoa and Corralillo, in Bauta, Artemisa;
  • Parish priest of the Parish Church of San José, and in charge of the Parish of the Purísima Concepción in Tapaste, with the chapel of Jesús Nazareno in San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque;
  • Member of the Ecclesiastical Court of the Archdiocese;
  • Coordinator of diocesan catechesis of the Archdiocese;

At the time of his appointment, and since 2020, he was Parish Priest and Rector of the National Sanctuary of San Lázaro, El Rincón, and in charge of the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria in El Wajay, Boyeros, Havana.

On July 16, 2022, Pope Francis appointed him Titular Bishop of Nisa in Lycia and Auxiliary Bishop of Havana.

Ordained on October 1, 2022, in the Cathedral of San Cristóbal in Havana.

He is currently Parish Priest of the church of San Francisco de Paula, in La Víbora and Auxiliary Bishop of Havana.
