CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM THE BISHOPS OF CUBA
“Look, I give you Good News,
a great joy for all the people!”
Luke 2:10
TO PRIESTS, DEACONS, RELIGIOUS LIFE, LAY PEOPLE AND ALL CUBANS
Dear brothers:
1. As Christmas approaches, we reiterate the announcement of the Good News of the Birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior. This event has motivated joy, generated commitment and founded the hope of many men and women who, for more than 2000 years, have welcomed with faith the Angel’s announcement on Christmas Eve.
2. This announcement reaches all Cubans and the entire world today at a time when we long to find the source of true joy and hope that we all need to envision a better and safer future in the midst of the difficulties we suffer. Jesus Christ is born so that we may have life and have it in abundance (cf. Jn. 10, 10), so that we may be happy. Let us trust, then, He knows what we need, He wants the best for each one of us, He does not want us to be desperate or anguished but happy, full of hope that is born from true love and trust in God, who seeks and can achieve the best for every human being.
“TODAY HE HAS BEEN BORN TO YOU IN THE CITY OF DAVID THE SAVIOR” (Lk. 2, 11)
“And it came to pass, while they were in Bethlehem, that the time came for Mary to give birth. And there his firstborn son was born, and he wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in the manger, because there was no lodging for them in the inn” (Luke 2:6-7).
