Resurrection Sunday Allocution

Through the mystery of Christ’s death and resurrection, we ourselves have been buried with Christ in baptism so that we may live a new life. Therefore, having completed the exercise of Lent, let us renew the promises of Holy Baptism with which we once renounced Satan and his works and promised to faithfully serve God in the Catholic Church. The Church asks us, we answer:
Do you renounce Satan and all his works?
A: Yes, I resign.
Do you renounce sin to live in the freedom of the children of God?
A: Yes, I resign.
Do you renounce all the seductions of evil so that sin does not dominate you?
A: Yes, I resign.
Do you renounce Satan, that is, sin as a denial of God, evil as a sign of sin in the world, error as an obfuscation of the truth, violence as contrary to charity, selfishness as a lack of witness to love?
A: Yes, I resign.
Do you renounce the works of Satan, which are envy, hatred, laziness, indifference, sadness that does not trust in God, injustice, materialism, sexual debauchery and everything that goes against the law of God?
A: Yes, I resign.
And now the Church asks them:
Do you believe in God the Almighty Father, creator of heaven and earth?
A: Yes, I think.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, died, was buried, rose from the dead and is with God the Father where he awaits us?
A: Yes, I think.
Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, in the Holy Catholic Church, in the communion of Saints, in the forgiveness of sins, in the resurrection of the body and in eternal life?
A: Yes, I think.
Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who cleansed us from sin by water and the Holy Spirit, and granted us the remission of sins, keep us in his grace to live resurrected as the son Jesus Christ, our Lord, now and for eternal life. Amen.

To continue resurrected with you, after having renounced evil and having professed the Faith, my God grant me romanticism, even knowing that roses do not speak; optimism, even knowing that the future may not be so happy; the will to live, even knowing that life is, at many times, painful; the will to have great friends, even knowing that with the turns of the world they leave our lives. The willingness to help people, even knowing that many of them are unable to see, recognize and reciprocate this help; balance, even knowing that many forces would like me to fall; the will to love, even knowing that the person I love most may not feel the same way for me; the light and brilliance in my eyes, even knowing that many things I will see in the world darken my eyes. Strength, knowing that defeat may be present in my efforts; reason, even knowing that the temptations of life are many; the feeling of justice, even knowing that the injured party could be me; the beauty and joy of seeing, even knowing that many tears will flow from my eyes; love for my family, even knowing that it will often require incredible efforts from me to maintain harmony. The willingness to donate this enormous love that is in my heart, even knowing that many times it will be rejected; the will to be great in service, even knowing that the world is very big and I am incapable of reaching everyone. And above all, may I never forget that you, my God, love me infinitely. Thank you, Lord, for all who live like this.

- Just for today I will try to live exclusively for this day, without wanting to solve the problem of my life all at once.
- Just for today I will take the greatest care of my appearance, I will be courteous in my manners, I will not criticize anyone and I will not seek to improve or discipline anyone except myself.
- Just for today I will adapt to the circumstances, without pretending that the circumstances adapt to my desires.
- Just for today I will do 10 minutes of good reading.
- Just for today I will do a good deed without telling anyone, if I feel offended I will make sure no one knows.
- Just for today I will be happy thinking about eternal happiness.
- Just for today I will guard against two calamities, haste and indecision. I will believe that Providence takes care of me as if there were no other person in the world.
- Just for today I will not have fears and above all I will not be afraid to enjoy the beautiful and believe in goodness. I can do good during this day, what would discourage me would be to think of having to do it all my life.

A Christian tells us about his Faith:
I know that Christ has risen because I have experienced his presence. I experience that I am loved, I never feel alone, I feel great love for my brothers, I live the experience and culture of forgiveness. I have stopped fearing, even death. My king is love, I have peace and confidence and I transmit them, I always notice the flower of hope fresh. I feel in me a source of joy that never runs out. In my nights I always have a light, my sufferings already have meaning next to the cross. I make the sufferings of two brothers my own. I believe in the angels of comfort and hope, I do not fear the powers of hell, nor do I believe in the power of demons; The gods of the earth do not seduce me. I love the beatitudes, the poor are my favorites, I prefer to give life rather than take it. I wait and advance the kingdom of life, I wait for the triumphant return of Jesus Christ, I glory in the cross. I only hope in Jesus. Christ is risen, truly risen.

One day, many years ago, a hundred wise men had gathered to discuss the most essential things in the world. They came from the most remote places, they spoke different languages, they were wise in their different fields, they scrutinized the succession of things that were happening in the world with contrasting mentalities. No one would have proven anyone else right. At a certain point, one of them proposed: “Since we cannot agree, let’s try to inspire ourselves with a prayer.” Some were irritated, others were perplexed, but the vast majority were favorable. Then another problem arose, it was agreed… but what formula to adopt? The contrasts seemed to emerge again until the same proponent from before said that there was a prayer, perhaps unique in the world, that can be accepted by everyone, believers of any religion and in its essential matter, any philosopher, whether he believed or not. And the proposer prayed together with the others:

In that meeting Christ was resurrected. Christ is risen, truly risen.

We approach Christ by praying and singing Spiritual Communion.

Tonight we ask ourselves, we discuss with the family, what the meeting of the risen Christ was like, how it happened, what joy, what peace, what happiness for everyone.

May the God who, through the resurrection of his Only Begotten, redeemed us and adopted us as children, fill us with joy with his blessings.
