They hold a seminar on Pope Francis, the culture of encounter and the change of era

This Friday the Seminar “Change of times: challenges and challenges” began, organized by the Ecclesial Network of Advanced Studies of Cuba (REEAC) at the San Juan María Vianney Priestly House, which has as guests Rodrigo Guerra and Massimo Borguesi, two intellectuals from Mexico and Italy respectively.

Given the problems of today’s Cuba, Father Yosvani Carvajal, rector of the Father Félix Varela Institute of Ecclesiastical Studies, in his presentation words, expressed that common paths and feasible solutions are needed to help solve the problems that affect Cubans. “If we are here today it is because we want to contribute to the common good from the best that Christianity has contributed to Western culture: creating science and culture,” he added.

He also recalled that Pope Francis during his visit to the Island and specifically in his meeting with young Cubans, on September 20, 2015, spoke of the need to promote a culture of encounter.

Precisely, as part of the program, the prominent Italian professor and writer, Massimo Borghesi, gave a conference titled: “Pope Francis and the challenges of the change of era,” where he addressed different aspects related to the theology and social thought of the current pontiff. of the church.

“Bergoglio creates a theology of tenderness that comes from Saint Paul: God makes himself small to save the little ones, to save them from close quarters. Tenderness and proximity are the medicine for the harshness of today’s world. A time without humanity has a desperate need for humanity,” Boghesi explained.

The author of the book Jorge Mario Bergoglio, an intellectual biography, also stated that the path of Christianity today is mercy: “The problem is not that of ideologies but how to give credible testimony and the passion for humility.”
In this sense, this search for solutions to the challenges of the current era is what is proposed at this meeting by the REEAC, a network of educational institutions in the country that seeks interdisciplinarity for active collaboration between Catholic organizations dedicated to education. .
