Allocution June 18, 2023

Today, Sunday, June 18, we celebrate Father’s Day.

We thank God the Father for the gift of life he gave us through the love of dad and mom.

Jesus Christ invites us to pray to our Father God in the gospel of Matthew, chapter 6, verses 9 to 14.

(Gospel)

God the Father has prepared a basket for our life. He created the light, the sky, the sun, the stars, the moon, the earth, the sea, the fish, the animals, the plants and created dad and mom and everything prepared for our birth, blessed fruit of the love of our parents. .

And that love that soaked us in the mother’s womb continues with more vigor and determination, love that multiplies in caresses, kisses, attention, sacrifices, tireless and thanks to all that wonder of family love, we are here.

This love continues its path teaching goodness, honesty, family harmony and when we take the wrong path by paying attention to family love, it is still present insisting on rectifying the wrong path.

As we become children, we become fathers and mothers and having already experienced what a father and a mother are like, we already know what a father is like.

How wonderful that a good dad always has a great mom by his side! Together they will raise a good son, joy and happiness in old age.

We thank God the Father for the fundamental teaching of our father. We pray to Father God to help us live it for the greatest joy of our dad.

The book of Sirach, belonging to the Old Testament, a book to be read by parents and children, in chapter 3, verses 1 to 16 teaches us in the name of God the Father.

(Gospel)

Celestial father:

I am overwhelmed by the enormity of the demands of parenthood. If I didn’t have you constantly by my side, my efforts would be in vain. I praise you for being the source of all joy, victory, personal dignity and gratitude in my life.

Help me, Father, to instill in my children healthy feelings of personal worth, even if mine are sometimes very low. Help me not to humiliate my children with harsh words, shaming or ridiculing them. Grant me the ability to encourage their good qualities with expressions of appreciation and words of encouragement.

Hold my tongue when I should be listening instead of speaking, I want to be ready to listen when they need me. Do not allow me to reprimand them unnecessarily or use a harsh tone of voice when I discipline them. Give me patience every day to help them form a righteous character and a responsible attitude. Grant me wisdom to accede to their reasonable wishes and courage to deny requests for things that could harm them.

May a smile illuminate my face every day. May happiness and laughter fill our home. Grant me the ability to recognize when I should put aside work to enjoy experiences that present themselves unexpectedly. I trust that you will help me cherish fond memories and family traditions for the future.

Forgive me for the numerous mistakes and failures committed in the past. Remove from me all feelings of guilt, anger or resentment that could harm my relationship with my children.

Help me to manifest love for my children from their tender years and throughout their lives, so that they know what love is because they have experienced it in our home.

My children are also your children, Father. I entrust them to your powerful hands. May the example I give to your service inspire love in them and the desire to serve you forever.

Above all gifts, Lord, grant me patience and self-control. Thank you for being by my side to help me through the difficult days ahead. I love you and I thank you for answering my prayer for the future of my children. I trust that you will meet all of our needs whenever you see fit.

HOW TO EDUCATE YOUR CHILD

The child is not a glass that is filled, but a fire that is lit. (Van Gogh).

The child is the seed of the future. Fertilize this seed with love.

You are responsible for your son: he did not ask for your life. You called him into existence, and that call you made is an unavoidable commitment that perpetuates over time.

You must behave with love before the child; May he not learn the bitter taste of violence because of your unconsciousness or intolerance.

With love you must put on makeup and dress so that the child sees you: He learns by imitation, and will only learn to love if he sees love and is loved.

Teach him to listen, more than to speak. Nature – and it includes men – has wonderful sounds and words of which those who do not learn to listen will be deprived.

Teach your child to be, instead of have. True joy comes from that intimate awareness of what one is, which is not susceptible to losing it like what one has that is temporary.

Help your child to have principles and goals, and to fight for them, privileging principles, which are the essence of the inner being.

Encourage him not to cover material goods excessively. His hands would be very busy, and he would not be able to caress or feel the warmth of other hands between his own.

Teach him to offer, rather than ask or demand from others. Thus, paradoxically, you will receive more, because you will find many outstretched hands, each of which will offer you a universe of priceless treasures.

Let your child be himself. Don’t try to make him a copy of you or turn him into what you couldn’t be. Your destiny is unique.

Educate your child with an eye to the future: he will spend the rest of his life there. Remember that life does not stop or turn back; This thought will also keep your spirit young, so you can tune in to it.

Let yourself be loved in the only way the child knows how, even if it dirties your clothes, absorbs your time, exhausts your energy. He needs your presence and personal dedication, as much as the material goods that you can provide him with your work.

Enter their world. Only then will you be able to show him yours.

Learn to speak their language: it is less corrupted than yours.

Play with him. Let that imprisoned child in you go out and play with that other dirty little boy who extends his hand to you…

If your child cannot play with you, he will become asocial and dehumanized, and will only learn to treat objects: he will even treat people that way.

It stimulates their progress, their curiosity, their inventiveness, their spontaneity; For him they are the conquest of the universe.

Don’t build a wall of overprotection around your child. While it is true that this would protect him from the blows of life, it is also true that it would prevent him from seeing the light.

Help your child find the way, even if it doesn’t lead where you want… Remember that it is more important to prepare your child for the path than to prepare the path for your child.

Illuminate your path to make your walk easier… But don’t forget that life supplies him with his own torch, and one day he will feel that he no longer needs you so much and that his mission is to shine a light on others… That day you can say that you have educated your child.

A father prays to Saint Joseph, teacher and disciple of Jesus:

«Glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph,

whose power knows how to make impossible things possible,

come to my help in these moments of anguish and difficulty.

Take situations under your protection

so serious and difficult that I trust you,

so that they have a good solution.

My beloved Father, all my trust is placed in you.

Let it not be said that I have invoked you in vain and,

how can you do everything with Jesus and Mary,

show me that your goodness is as great as your power. Amen»

(Very old prayer prayed by Pope Francis)

I present to you, God the Father, all the goodness of my deceased father: his love, his dedication, his teaching, his sacrifice and all that wonder of love that only You know and I do not; Reward them as You only can: with eternal life, forgive their sins through Your infinite mercy and give me the joy of realizing in my life and family all the good things that I desire and that you taught me. Grant us one day to be united in the house of heaven.

I ask you through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
