Thank you to all those who make this radio broadcast possible, on this Sunday, the 13th of the liturgical season of the Church, June 28.

Today in all Catholic churches throughout the world this gospel according to Saint Matthew, chapter 10, verses 37 to 42, is read.

These words of Jesus scare us: “Whoever loves his father or mother more than me is not one of mine.”

What Jesus wants to tell us is that a father cannot say to his son: steals; take revenge; don’t share anything; don’t be stupid and don’t kill yourself working; get drunk; Believe in God but don’t go to Church, it’s for women; have many women that your wife doesn’t care about that. Such a father does not love his children or God.

A father who loves his children wants the best for them. The best for the children is what God asks of us: love, peace, marital fidelity, sacrificial dedication to the family; honesty, helpfulness to everyone, generosity. Such a father loves God and loves his children.

A mother who says to her daughter: don’t put up with anything from your mother-in-law; Don’t work too much, let others do it and you dedicate yourself to watching novels; get an abortion because there is no money to have children; ask your husband for as much money as possible and spend it on perfumes and top-notch clothes; sleep all morning; If the husband doesn’t suit you, leave him. Such a mother loves neither her daughter nor God.

A mother who loves her daughter accompanies her; he listens to her when her daughter tells her about the difficulties with her mother-in-law; with the husband; with his family; with little money; with disobedient children; With the new pregnancy, immense joy for the entire family and together they are looking for solutions for greater family love.

Such a mother loves God and her daughter.

Husbands who insult, shout and offend each other do not love each other nor do they love God. Spouses who forgive each other, talk and settle their differences peacefully, love each other and love God.

They say that on one occasion the lion, king of the jungle, was very worried about the number of hunters who were chasing the wild beasts. And he decided to make an army with which they could defend themselves. For this he went out to recruit animals. And the first thing he found in his path was the enormous and heavy elephant.

-Good morning, king of the jungle, greetings cordially from the mastodon.

-Good morning, my dear elephant, do you want to be part of my army? the lion asked him.

-Of course, your majesty, of course.

-You will be our greatest defense.

The two walked together in search of new recruits. It didn’t take long for them to encounter a wolf. He bowed in submission and saluted respectfully.

-Good morning, your majesty.

-Good morning, big bad wolf. I am gathering a brave army to defend us from the hunters. Would you join us?

The elephant looked at the lion and asked:

-What use will such a small animal be to you, compared to me?

The king of the jungle, ignoring the pachyderm’s allusions, addressed the wolf again and said:

-You could be a very fierce soldier.

Of course, the wolf accepted and the three walked in search of new recruits. They then found a screaming monkey and the lion also invited him to be part of his hosts.

-What do you want it for? I don’t think it’s any use, asked the wolf.

-It would always be good to distract the enemy, declared the lion. And he added: Nobody better than him for that.

Then the four of them walked. The lion already felt that the army was forming. Suddenly, before them, a scared hare and a poor donkey that could barely walk appeared. The elephant and the big bad wolf looked at each other, surprised that the lion was addressing those two animals.

But the lion recruited them.

On the day of the battle, the donkey, sitting at an outpost, brayed very loudly and his braying alerted everyone of the approach of the enemy. And the hare ran taking advantage of his speed, carrying messages from one to another. The howler monkey distracted the hunters by jumping from one tree to another, screaming as only he knew how.

Meanwhile, the elephant appeared like a thunderstorm, with its majestic size, snorting and emitting high-pitched sounds, and behind it the wolf appeared on one side with its bristling back and threatening fangs, and on the other the lion itself, roaring while shaking its head. mane.

Faced with all this, the terrified hunters had no choice but to flee, abandoning their weapons and vowing never to return through that jungle.

Of course this is nothing more than a children’s story, taken from the book of fables. But the lesson is clear. The lion was a true leader because he knew how to work with the strengths of his team members, even though some of them focused on the weaknesses of others. The elephant saw the wolf as very small, and both, elephant and wolf, saw no use for the screaming monkey and even less for the elusive hare and the old donkey.

If we could focus more on the qualities and less on the flaws of those around us, we would lead a more enjoyable life. But the opposite is the most common, unfortunately there are too many people focused only on the most unpleasant aspects of others. The result is that they fill their heads with criticism and condemnation and end up making themselves bitter, and of course, making those they criticize bitter. Parents towards their children, managers and supervisors towards their subordinates, teachers towards their students, co-workers towards each other, we should all take advantage of the experience of the lion forming his army.

And if by chance we do not find qualities in others, we should worry, but not for them who surely have them, but for ourselves who may have become so negative that we are no longer able to perceive the good in them.

If in the family, the church, at work and in multiple companies, we all worked together according to our abilities, we would overcome many evils and grow in many aspects of our personal, family and social happiness. That is loving your family, your neighbor and God.

Tomorrow, Monday, the Church celebrates the feast of Saints Peter and Saints Paul. With different texts from the New Testament, Saint Peter can tell us his autobiography:

I, Peter, assure that Jesus saw me with my brother Andrew, casting the nets into the water and said: Follow me and I will make you fishers of people immediately, we leave the nets and follow him.

Jesus changed my name. My name was Simon and he named me Peter – Stone and some time later he told me: You are Peter and on this stone I will build my church and he gave me the keys to the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus healed my mother-in-law in my house, which I am very happy about because my only wife felt very happy.

He chose me as an apostle to accompany him and announce the gospel.

Jesus, on the Lake of Galilee, approached our boat buffeted by the opposite wind, he walked on the water and I asked him to do the same and I walked on the water and I was afraid and when I lost trust in Him, I sank and screamed : Save me, Lord, and He took me by the hand and told me: How little faith do you have? Why did you hesitate?

When I asked what makes a man impure, he explained: What enters a man’s mouth does not make him impure. On the contrary, what makes a man impure is what comes out of his mouth. Because from within man come evil thoughts, murders, adultery, sexual immorality, thefts, lies and insults. These things are what make man impure.

He asked all the apostles: Who am I? I answered: You are the Messiah, the son of the living God. He congratulated me and gave me the mission to help him build his church and protect it. That is being Pope, Universal Father.

Jesus was transfigured on Mount Tabor and I saw him next to Moses and Elijah and I felt so good that I wanted to stay there but He didn’t want to. I heard the voice of God the Father: “This is my beloved son, listen to him.”

Jesus announced his death and I said that it could not happen and I would prevent it. Once he called me “Satan” for opposing the will of God the Father and announced to me that he would deny it.

Jesus celebrated the last supper and I was there. It was moving to be able to receive his Body and Blood in the bread and wine. It was my first communion. I remember her like today. And there I also knew who was going to betray him. Jesus washed my feet even though I didn’t want to because that was what the servants and slaves did.

While Jesus was imprisoned in Annas’ house, I denied three times that I was his friend out of fear. Then I cried bitterly.

Jesus heard my handsomeness many times and I defended him in the garden but he also saw me fleeing, denying him, hiding when I was carrying the cross and at the time of his burial. What a shame!

Jesus loved me so much that he forgave me and when early on Sunday morning Mary Magdalene told us that they had taken the Lord’s body, I ran there and felt great admiration for John who believed in the resurrection of the Master.

Jesus appeared to us that same day at night, I felt intense joy, we received the peace of forgiveness and the strength of the Spirit to preach the gospel.

He appeared to us several times and invited us to have breakfast that He Himself prepared.

He asked me three times if I wanted it. I answered yes three times and the last time: Lord, you know everything, you know that I love you.

I have two letters with my name on them. I invite you to read them, meditate on them, live them and teach them.

The city of Havana has had the joy of having my successor 263 and participating in the mass on January 25, 1998, presided over by Saint John Paul II. Many phrases have been engraved in our memory and heart during the pastoral visit to our Homeland: “Cuba, take care of your families so that you keep your heart healthy.”

Over my grave they built a huge basilica that bears my name.

In many churches I have an image. Go and pray to me. I am patron of the town of Quivicán. From heaven I will be interested in your life. Remember that I was the first Pope and I have keys to open the happiness of Christ.
