Allocution by S.E.R. Cardinal Juan de la Caridad García for Father’s Day

Thank you to everyone who makes this radio broadcast possible today, June 21, Father’s Day. We congratulate all the parents and those we consider our parents.

(Song)

On this day we want to congratulate Father God, the one who thought of us from eternity as children. He who created us in the womb in his image and likeness; the one who gave us the beautiful family we have; the one who made us his children in baptism; the one who keeps our hearts beating since our mission in this life has not ended; the one who forgives us; the one who accompanies us in joys and sorrows; the one who awaits us in the home of heaven.

In the gospel we find a total and absolute trust of Jesus in God the Father. It is significant to note that, in all prayers, Jesus addresses God as Father. Jesus used to call God “Abba” and this made such an impression that the first Christians repeated this word in Aramaic, just as Jesus pronounced it: “Abba.” The Letter to the Romans tells us this, chapter 8, verses 14 and 15.

Certainly no one in the early Christian community would have dared to call God that if Jesus had not done so.

When any of you go to Jerusalem, you will see a big man with a child holding his hand and this child will say: Abba, dad. Abba is the familiar term that children used to call their father. Each one remembers how he says or said to his father. That same word can serve us to address God the Father as Jesus did. That denotes full security, full certainty that He is our Father and will never leave us abandoned.

Jesus teaches us to pray, to address God with the best prayer there is. The gospel according to Saint Matthew tells us this, chapter 6, verses 9 to 15.

(Song)

We pray to our Daddy God for the prayer that Christ taught us.

Our Father, giver of protective love and not mine alone,

but of all, the best and the worst, the pleasant and unpleasant.

You are in heaven, yes heaven is your place, wherever you are,

No matter how difficult it may seem, heaven could be there, you and I.

Hallowed be your Name, may we know how to honor you in our lives

and may we not forget to praise you and thank you, in addition to asking you.

Your Kingdom come, your Kingdom is not dominion and power

but love, justice, peace, which we need so much in our personal and social lives.

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,

Your will will always be the best for us, even if we do not understand it at the moment.

Help us to pray to know how to ask You for Your will to be done

and not for You to make ours.

Give us today our daily bread,

Give us confidence to expect from you what is necessary for today

knowing that tomorrow will be another day in which Your providence will also help us.

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Forgive us, yes, for everything we know and for everything we don’t want to know,

but please, don’t do it like us who don’t know how to forgive. Teach us, please.

Do not let us fall into temptation.

There are many things in this life that tend to separate us from you and your will:

selfishness, separation of families, violence, contempt for elders, alcoholism.

Help us so that they do not distort our path and that of our family towards You.

And deliver us from evil.

Deliver us, yes, from all evil of the body and life, but above all,

from all the evil of the soul that hinders eternal life.

Deliver us then, above all, from the evil that makes us evil.

Amen. May it be so, all your children ask it of you, God, Father of all.

(Song)

The gospel of Saint Matthew in chapter 7, verse 7 to 11 tells us:

God gave us a spectacular gift, our dad, that we did not ask for. Without him we would not have come to life. What happiness it is to be a dad!

MY FATHER IS NOT ANYONE

A dad is the man we want to be with mom, because he is the man of the house, the one who instills character and unity in the family, the one who solves the most difficult problems, he is the one that mom needs so much to feel safe and children to feel protected.

A dad is that one who seemed crazy the day he was waiting for our birth at the door of the Maternal Hospital, the one who bribed the doorman because he couldn’t resist the desire to meet us and didn’t have the patience to wait for visiting time.

That dad was wondering how with both hands he could hold this little rag doll (his newborn son), who couldn’t stop moving his feet and his little body… hey! He’s just like me.

That dad is the one who learned to change diapers after thousands of failed attempts, always putting the tip of the safety pin out; the one who, when he has to heat the baby’s milk, always has to cool it down and then heat it again and tell his wife: “mi ‘ha’,” it’s just that it’s not easy to get the temperature right that the child’s taste requires. !

That dad He is the one who heard the songs of angels when for the first time his son articulated (he says) the word “dad”; It is the one who taught us to read, to fasten our shoelaces; the one who had a fixation with the heavy “table” of nine, who did not leave us alone until he verified that we knew it; the one who let us beat the balls, the one who made us the first kite, the one who cured our wrist; A dad is the one with whom we learned to say “estrai”, a dad is the one with whom our little sister filled his head with rolls and buckles and, then, he understood why everyone looked at him in such a strange way in the bread queue. , until she remembered the exotic hairstyle that her little daughter had done for her a few minutes before.

A dad is a model of life, he is the good advisor, the precise word, the silence and the knowing smile when we have done something that we do not want mom to know; He is the one who lets us play with mud and throw water on ourselves, so he has to help us clean and pick up.

That dad He is the one whose eyes water and his heart tightens when we get sick and almost no one notices his anguish; It is that of virile tenderness, whose calloused hands can offer the warmest caresses and the purest hug; He is the one who, when my little brother broke his head and Mom wanted to have a fit, said with authority and aplomb that nothing had happened, but his legs went weak and he didn’t have the courage to see how they stitched up his prince’s wound. dwarf.

That dad He is our friend, but also our “enemy” (especially when mom threatens us with: “let your father come”); He is the relentless one: at his command we have to get up early, go to school, go to that review that we don’t like, get good grades, respond to mom and love our brother.

A dad is the kindest and noblest man in the world, and whom we love very much, but with whom we are never affectionate and we very rarely tell him how much we love him and want him to be by our side.

A dad is the one we need all our lives because his presence gives us security, peace, confidence… because he is the book of life, to which we can turn when we are in trouble; the one who always forgets our debts and guarantees us our daily bread.

Thank you, dad , for your love, because you are as necessary as mom, for all the hours of your life that you have given us, for your smile, for your conscious or unconscious presence in all the happy moments and in the difficult ones, because your example encouraged us. to want to be like you.

Thank you, Father God,for the father you gave us; You who made him Father in your image and likeness, fill him with your love.

(Song)

We pray for our deceased parents:

In your hands, Father of goodness, we place the soul of our deceased father; We are sustained by the hope that he will rise with Christ on the last day with all those who have died in Christ.

We thank you, Lord, for the gift of his person, for the time during which you gave him to us, and for all the good that our deceased father did, the one we knew and the one we did not know and you do know.

Hear our prayers, God of mercy, so that the doors of paradise may be opened to our deceased father and we, who still remain in this world, may console each other with words of faith until we all go out to meet Christ and so, with our deceased father let us sing your praises eternally.

For our departed father: Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, now and forever, forever and ever. Amen.

If a father and his son have a conflict and are angry with each other, today is the day to meet, ask for forgiveness and reconcile.

(Song)

If anyone wants the Church to congratulate their father or several fathers, call 78624000 and say their names.

god the father speaks to his children

My son, who are on earth, make your life

the best reflection of my name.

Enter my Kingdom with every step you take,

in every decision you make, in every caress and every gesture.

Build my Kingdom of love with me.

That is my will on earth as it is in heaven.

Take your daily bread knowing that it is a privilege and a miracle.

I forgive your mistakes, your falls, your abandonments,

but do the same with the fragility of your brothers.

Fight to follow the right path in life

that I will be by your side,

and do not be afraid that evil should not have the last word in your life.

Amen.

We join Jesus Christ, son of God the Father, we who are also children, singing spiritual communion:

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, intoxicate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, comfort me.
Oh, good Jesus! Hear me.
Inside your wounds, hide me.
Don’t let me separate from You.
From the enemy, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me.
And command me to come to You.
So that with your saints I may praise you.
Forever and ever. Amen.

Parents and children holding hands we pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Your Name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who offend us, do not lead us into temptation, and deliver us from evil. Amen.

And the blessing of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, descend on parents and children, on all families and remain forever. Amen.
