They confer upon the Virgin of Regla distinction from the Peruvian navy

On the Solemnity of All Saints and coinciding with the festivities for the fifth centenary of the founding of the town of San Cristóbal de La Habana, the National Pro Marine Association of Peru awarded its Medal of Honor to the tercentennial Blessed Virgin of Regla, in a Eucharistic ceremony held in its Havana sanctuary.

The same distinction was granted to Cardinal Juan de la Caridad García Rodríguez, archbishop of Havana, and to priest Roberto Betancourt, rector and parish priest of the National Sanctuary of the Virgin of Regla, which is located in the town of the same name in the Cuban capital. .

The decoration of the beautiful black devotion to the Virgin Mary took place on the occasion of the XXXIII General Assembly of the International Federation of Maritime and Naval Leagues and Associations (FIDALMAR), which this year, coincidentally, took place in Havana.

The Medal of Honor for Pro-Marine Merit of Peru was awarded to the Virgin of Regla and the Cuban prelates by Captain Jorge Guerrero Lang, president of the Peruvian maritime association, who requested the special intercession of the Mother for all the sailors of the world, so that they feel protected by it.

This was the first Eucharistic celebration that Mons. Juan de la Caridad García, archbishop of Havana, presides at the Sanctuary of Regla as a cardinal of the universal Church, after Pope Francis conferred this title on him in a Public Consistory held in Rome on October 5.

At the end of the mass, and in the name of the faithful of the Sanctuary, it was handed over to H.E.R. Juan García a painting with the image of the Virgin of Regla.
